Long Weekend in the Beaches Part Two

Winter does not want to go gently into the night. Camera: Rolleicord IV K3B Film: Fomapan 100, Xtol 1+1.

Long Weekend in the Beaches March 2014

I love dog and house sitting in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto and I had an opportunity to look after Rufus while my brother and his family when on a road trip to Mt. Tremblant. A change of scenery was, it also coincided with a March blizzard on my first day. The day after we had a windchill advisory and hyper bright sunshine. Thing is two days later half the snow melted from a  mild spell. Now I used up my second to last roll of Fomapan 100 in 120 format, interesting film, it reminds me of the old Agfa APX 100, while I have seen the end results online, never used myself. I recently picked up 30 m (100ft) of Fomapan 200 in 35mm and can't wait to start shooting with that. Always got great results from Foma  and I love shaking things up now and again. Camera: Rolleicord IV, 75 f3.5 Schneider Xenar lens. Film: Fomapan 100, Xtol 1+1.

More Tells that Spring is Coming, Slowly.

Spring is coming, we're getting more sunlight, the snow on the ski slopes is getting softer and the ice is breaking up on the West Credit River but I don't think Old Man Winter is quite done with us yet. Have patience. Camera: Canon FTb, FD 50 f1.4 lens. Film: Fuji Pro 400 H.

March Skiing

Skiing is more fun in the sunshine. Camera: Canon FTb, FD 50 f1.4 lens. Film: Fuji Pro 400H

Spring is Coming, Eventually

The days are getting longer and sunnier, finally. I decided to shoot colour film through an old Canon body I own the FTb . The film is 400 ISO but I deliberately over exposed to 250 ISO to get snow right. The one thing with camera light meters regardless if you are using film or a sensor, it will automatically expose for 18% grey. I think in some cases I over did it in some images, then again, I'm still on the learning curve with colour negative film with Vuescan , a software interface for film scanners. It's great for black and white film, C-41 or colour negative, I still have my great days and not so great days. What I'm looking forward to is seasonal temperatures and getting outside even more often.
