Beautiful Day Part Two

As an antidote to the fine Vancouver-Seattle weather pattern of endless rain Southern Ontario is being subjected too, here is part two to a beautiful day somewhere along the Niagara Escarpment in Caledon. This weekend is starting look like a washout from here, at least you can vicariously go hiking in the photos.

Camera: Nikon F Photomic Tn circa 1968, Nikkor S 50 f1.4 and H 28 f3.5 lenses,
Film: ORWO UN 54 ISO 100 processed in Xtol 1+1 for 6min, 30 sec at 20c.

Beautiful Day

It finally got warm, and dry enough to head out for a walk in the country. The Saturday on Easter weekend was the nice day out of all of them and was surprisingly quiet up in my regular haunts up in Caledon, the cyclists and the bikers were conspicuously absent.

I drove in via MacLaren Side Road north of Inglewood, it's not paved so I would not be riding down that on a $6000+ road bike with the ruts and potholes.

Camera: Nikon F, Nikkor S 50 f1.4 lens with yellow filter.
Film ORWO UN 54  ISO 100 motion picture film processed in Xtol 1+1.

Toronto

I am currently taking a certificate at University of Toronto in Digital Strategy and Communications Management, it's a great little program for communications and marketing professionals looking to learn how to use social media on a strategic level for enterprise. It's fun I can't recommend it enough.

I had this grand plan to do some more urban shooting over the second course on the way to class, well best laid plans, at -40c with the windchill, spending time outside for any length of time, not fun. Close to the end of the second course I did get out before class and did some shooting on the walk up from Union Station.

With the weather getting a lot nicer I plan to take a camera with me and shoot along the way up to class. This will also be my last roll of Kodak Tri-X for a little while, it's a great film but I find Ilford HP5 400 nicer to scan and I like how it looks when processed with HC110.

Camera: Nikon F Photomic FTN, Nikkor S 50 f1.4 lens.
Film: Kodak Tri-X 400, Xtol 1+1.

Early Spring Hike Part Two, Much Easier on the Road.

So the idea of a spring hike near Forks of the Credit was a great idea at the time. After getting off the trails and back onto firm roads Lindsay and I walked back to the car wondering how the hell did we survive that.

Spring is very changeable. by the time this gets posted we got another dusting of snow, a one last Winter's not quite done with us yet weather event that happens usually around Easter. I want to go back up but I think I'll wait until May when more of the snow has melted.

Camera: Rolleiflex Series E with the Zeiss 75mm f3.5 Planar lens.
Film: Ilford HP5 400 processed in HC110 B.

Spring Walk at Forks of the Credit

I needed a good walk in the fresh air, so I went out with a friend. Instead of the usual walk into Forks of the Credit Provincial Park we took a side trail, yeah good idea at the time. The Trimble Side Trail was icy, actually quite scary in parts, now if your thinking where are the trail shots, I was too busy trying to stay on the trail.

I pulled out my Rolleiflex TLR and shot with Ilford HP5 400, it's been a while and forgot how sweet the 75 f3.5 Zeiss Planar lens renders.

The Melt in the Beaches Part Two

So glad April has arrived and spring has a strong foothold. It was a rough March on several fronts and I'm not going to miss one, well the skiing was nice but I'm done with the following phrases and words: wind chill, polar vortex and special weather statement, my personal favourite.

Well get out there and enjoy the sunshine, we deserve it.
