There is Winter in Southern Ontario in 2012

Image
You just have to look for it, in this case north of Olde Base Line Road in Peel Region one hour's drive northwest of Toronto. Frustrating as a skier when you get a mild spell during the week and disconcerting when you start thinking about climate change and what it will mean in the following Summer. We need that snow to replenish the water table for the lakes and rivers, and further north prevent forest fires. People don't think about that. Personally I like an old fashioned -10c winter with about 40 cm of snow on the ground and more on the way for the ski hills. Camera: Mamiya C220f, Sekor 65 f3.5 lens. Film: Fomapan 100, Rodinal 1+50 developer.

I was given a rather zen bit of advice back in December from an old friend. I was suffering from what can best be described a dark period from late November to about a week before Christmas and she advised me to be the water. This post is for my friend Shelagh and her advice, it was timely and I'm feeling much better about things. Camera: Mamiya C220f, various lenses, Film: Fuji Neopan Acros 100 processed in Tmax 1+4 developer. Location: Beflountain Conservation Area (off season) one hour northwest of Toronto.

Happy New Year!
