Niagara On the Lake Fall 2024 Part Two

The Nine Element 28 F2.8 "Elmarit" lens from Light Lens Lab is a what I would consider a must buy for a serious Leica shooter, collectors will have seizures becuase this lens exists at all. I love how this lens renders colour film. I can't recommend it enough. Just don't use it on a CL or M5, bad things will happen and lead to tears and regret along with being scolded by a Leica repair tech.  The only sad part is not being able to visit Niagara on the Lake quite as often as I used when living in Oakville.     Camera: Leica M4-2, Light Lens Labs Nine Element 28 F2.8 Lens.  Film: Fuji Superia 400, processed by Graination Lab.

Jo-Anne and I went down to Niagara on the Lake a few weeks ago and it was a chance for me to try out the Light Lens Lab Nine Element 28 F2.8 lens, their tribute to the nine element 28 F2.8 Elmarit Leica launched in the 1960s. I am a huge fanboy of the Eight Element 35 F2 and the Elcan 50 F2 lenses Light Lens Lab make, both are tributes to classic Leica M mount lenses that not easy to find and are quite espensive in the collector market (especially the Elcan 50 F2).  What I found is, Light Lens Lab glass loves colour negative film, yes I've shot black and white as well with these leneses but for some reason, colour just pops. Its when you find lenses that work for you, I mean really work for you, its like finding the perfect tool for the job and then some.  Camera: Leica M4-2, Light Lens Lab Nine element  28 F2.8 Lens, Elcan 50 F2 lens.  Film: Fuji Superia 400, processed by Graination Lab.  ...

New camera and a new lens, I wanted another Canon 7 variant, and this particular 7S came as part of a bundle with a Nikkor H 50 f2 lens, which now lives in my Barnack Leica kit, and a Canon 100 F3.5 telephoto, a particular lens I've been on the hunt for ages. I also bought a Light Lens Lab Elcan 50 F2 lens in M39 which also was bundled with an M mount adapter, that lens after the move will live on my M4-2 and spoiler alert,  M2 button rewind (awaiting an estimate for a CLA).  The 100 F3.5 lens is a delightful bit of glass, I only shot the super friendly golden retriever and it delivered.  The Elcan 50 F2 was beyond fabulous but I'll talk about it in the next post. The Canon 7S started acting weird after frame 20, as in the film advance was getting downright near impossible. Did make it to the end. After processing the roll or Rollei RPX 400, I had frame overlap, was it the camera, or user error, stay tuned...... Camera: Canon 7S, Light Lens Lab Elcan 50 F2 lens. Can...
