First Hike of the Year at Mono Cliffs

Image
I'm thankful that Ontario Provincial Parks are open for day hikers, my game plan is to do week day hikes through the Summer and get my dose of nature while I can.  This trip was with my friends Alex and James from the Classic Camera Revival, we all arrived in separate cars, and kept at least six feet/two metres apart as per public health guidelines. It was good to get out even though I wasn't entirely in control of the itinerary. The game plan is to come back and shoot with black and white film, most likely my new favourite for hiking Bergger Pancro 400, failing that maybe some Ilford HP5.  Mono Cliffs the hamlet was quiet, but it was early in the week and the Mono Cliffs Inn is still closed for renovations due to kitchen fire  pre pandemic. I hope they pull through because I love the Inn's menu and I've taken a lot of friends up there for lunch, and, you can work lunch off by hiking back to the car.  The other thing I plan to do this Summer is use up my Portra 400 s...

Mono Cliffs Spring 2016, First of Many Visits this Year

Image
I was called in for a jury panel two weeks ago, it is a civic responsibility however it can throw your life upside down. I wound up projects I was working on as I could be potentially stuck in a criminal or civil trial that could last months and we don't get to choose the case. Thankfully my rotten luck at raffles played in my favour and I managed not to get selected for  particularly creepy sexual assault case. To celebrate I went on a hike with a friend up at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. I have not been up this way in a while due to other plans and commitments. With work going in within Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, one of the main trails is presently closed and to be honest I was getting bored with the place. Back up to Mono we went. I love it up here be it Spring, Summer and especially fall.  And you're probably wondering, where are the cliffs? That's next post, the park is pretty big and even has a kettle lake. Shooting with Minolta Again....

Image
I missed my Minolta SRT 202, it was a nice tank of a camera, gifted it along with 99% of my Rokkor lenses along with a X700 to my brother to thin the herd out a bit. A few years later I came across my dead Minolta XE-7(no repair techie in Canada will touch it) and it had a MC Rokkor X 50 f1.4 lens that was still great. Found a restored SRT 102 on EBay along with some lenses and I'm back shooting Minolta. I forgot how nice the Rokkor series of lenses were. I can see why Leica partnered up with them back in the 1970s to share 35mm SLR technology. Camera: Minolta SRT 102, MC Rokkor X 50 f1.4 lens, 135 f2.8 for Lindsey's portrait. Film: Ilford HP5 400, HC110 B.
