Black and White Study of a Century Old Muskoka Resort.

Image
Billie Bear has a long history going back to the turn of the 20th Century when Muskoka was starting its slowtransition from a logging to a tourist region. Billie Bear Fishing Camp, catered to mostly sports fishermen from the early-mid 20th century up until the late 1980s when ownership changed and Billie Bear became a house keeping resort.  What was interesting back in the 1970s and '80s, the helipad was installed and where the powerboats are moored today, the float planes (a pair of DeHaviland Beavers) were tied up for ferrying sport fishermen to more remote lakes. Bille Bear also had a Hughes 300 with floats for smaller lakes.  Things changed in 1989 whin Billlie Bear changed hands and became a resort appealing to more to tourists evolving to what we know and love today. Dry Running a Future Photowalk

Image
A few weeks ago I met up with fellow Toronto film Shooters FB Group member Jessica Kosmack. We chatted online with the group and on Instagram about all sorts of stuff photography related. We both work in the communications and marketing field and she had two weeks off before starting a new job opportuntiy, makes sense to do a photowalk and dry run an upcoming photo walk for the group. Jessica had a keen eye for architectural detail and pointed out how buildings along Dundas St. West went up at random at different points. Little Portugal feels like Queen St. West in some regards almost 20 years ago and hasn't been seriously gentrified, yet. We wandered over to Little Italy for lunch, stopped by Wonder Pens to stock up on notebooks. It was fun, having clear skies helped a lot even if the temperatures started to drop.
