More Winter Photography in the Bitter Cold

Image
When the temperature seriously drops, the only camera I reach for is my Nikon FM2n. It just doesn't quit when the temperatures bounce around -30c. Camera: Nikon FM2n, Nikkor Ais lenses. Film: Lomography F Squared 400

The Last Roll of Lomography F Squared 400

Image
Lomography put out a limited run of expired and freezer stored Ferrania (hence the F) Solaris 400 cut down from a master roll purchased over a decade ago. I had the opporunity to shoot ten rolls over the past year, and now, we're at the end of the line. I had fun shooting this film on overcast days as well as sunny ones. Now if only Film Ferrania can get its act together and make some new Solaris 400..... Nikon FM2n, Nikkor Ais 50 f1.4 lens. Film: Lomography F Squared 400.

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe happy 2018! Just a note my blog posts are going to be a little random until the new year! Nikon F2A, Nikkor Ai 50 f1.4 lens. Film: Lomography F Squared 400

Winter Weather Arrives in Caledon Ontario Part One!

Image
I really needed to get out of town for the day. I took advantage of the Caledon Ski Club opening up their lodges so members can drop their skis off in their lockers, so I headed north. Instead of shooting black and white I loaded one of my F2's with some Lomography F Squared 400 which I have mentioned in the past is repackaged Solaris 400 that was freezer stored for over a decade. I really hope Film Ferrania relaunches Solaris 400, I love the look I get from this film and I want to see what fresh stock looks like. My Nikons are my go to "get stuff done" cameras when I need the shot bang on, it was also a chance to take my 2018 Christmas Card shot. Camera: Nikon F2A, Nikkor Ai 50 f1.4 lens and Ais 28 f2.8 lens. Film: Lomography F Squared 400 (Solaris 400, expired)

Saturday in the Beaches Continued

There's trouble in paradise, there always been high retail turnover in the Beaches, but it has gotten worse over the past two or three years. A lot of retailers are either calling it a day or more moving up to Kingston Rd. Gerrard St. or the Danforth for cheaper space. I don't blame them. The big problem is rent is steep and getting steeper. My guess a few landlords who have the retail strip sewn up got greedy. The recent commercial property tax increases are probably not helping either. Here's the challenge with the Beach, it's a desirable neighbourhood, people will pay stupid money to get a piece of heaven in the 416. My guess there's a more than a few people who are over mortgaged, you could say that with Oakville too. That doesn't help the local retailer because people aren't spending, helps to have a viable business and marketing plan too. One thing I am happy about is Bud's Coffee is still around for now.
