Forks of the Credit Mid Week.

Image
I love hiking Forks of the Credit Provincal Park, especially mid week when it's super quiet. I think there were only three people in the park that morning, and I loved it because I needed the solitude. Camera: Canon New F-1 AE, FDn lenses. Film: Rollei Retro 400S. HC110 B.

Forks of the Credit

Image
Forks of the Credit Provincial Park is about an hour's drive northwest of Toronto near Belfountain Ontario and gets its name from where the East and West Credit Rivers meet up. Walk up Dominion Street you will come across Brimstone, formerly a village of "hard living" limestone miners over a 100 years ago, now a collection of cottages and weekend retreats along the East Credit River. From there I walk into the park along the Dominion Trail. This is one of my favourite places to unwind for a few hours. Where will I be hiking this weekend? Panorama Photo: iPhone 5S with the Google Snap-Seed app. Everything Else: Camera: Leica M4-2, Canon 50 f1.4 LTM lens, Voightlander 35 f2.5 lens. Film: Ilford HP5 400, HC110 B.

Some Throwback Love: Cataract Falls November 2007

Image
What you see below was from my first and only time at the bottom of Cataract Falls inside Forks of the Credit Provincial Park. There's a story behind this set, seven years ago I met with some members of the Toronto Photography Meetup Group and we hiked into Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, one of my favourite haunts. We were told, it would be not a too hard a climb down, famous last words. The climb down was tricky but the climb back up with a camera backpack and tripod without climbing ropes was downright scary. Park staff have now blocked the path to the access point along the rail line and have made it clear that climbing down is not tolerated. I take those warnings seriously. I decided it was time to re-scan the negatives this time with a decent scanner (an Epson V600) into TIFF files for better editing and re-sharing. Camera: Olympus OM-1,  Zuiko lenses Film: Ilford FP4, HC110 B.
