Tamron Zoom Telephoto lens and Olympus OM-1md.
There are crap zoom lenses and quality zoom lenses in the third party category. I talked about the Polaris recently, it didn't set the world on fire in terms of optics but what you expect from 51 year old lens technology. Lets fast forward a decade or so. Tamron was doing some interesting things with their Adaptall mount, which if you had a camera collection that covered Nikon, Canon, Minolta and Olympus for sake of argument, you can have one telephoto zoom lens, and multiple lens mounts. I have the OM Zuiko 60-200 F4 zoom, it's decent glass, but after shooting with the Tamron SP 70-210 F3.5-F4 Zoom, I think this might be a better lens. First off its two touch meaning more precise focusing and zero chance of getting lens creep. The bane of every push-pull zoom lens. The big bonus with the Tamron over say a Kiron buit Vivitar Series One is the more compact dimensions. The end results speak for themselves and I should use this more often and try it for portraits.
