High Park and Testing out Some Nikon Gear (F2 Photomic and a new Lens).

I had this spare black Nikon F2 body sitting around and not doing much in the cabinet of broken dreams (parts cameras), my first thought was to secure a matching DE-1 eye level prism and put this camera back into service. The body was fine, but seeing what black DE-1 prisms are going for these days, that thought quicekly became a NOPE! Plan be, lets look for a working DP-1 meter head and I'll have a black F2 Photomic back in the collection, and I found a decent example on the US Camera Ebay Store and placed my order. The meter head works great and it went on a recent Toronto Film Shooters photowalk to High Park.  There were zero issues with the DP-1 prism head, the meter was spot on. I can't recommend F2's regardless of the version for a Nikon shooter, they are largely attainable and very robust and you have  large community to fall back on who get it.  The other bit of equipment I was testing out was the Nikkor H.C 85 F1.8 short telephoto lens, it had been factory ...

Toronto Docklands In Winter 2022

Image
Toronto Portands on a cold winter Sunday morning, an interesting place that's changing beyond recognition. Formerly industrial and a cargo port, the Toronto Portlands is slated to become a mixed use residential/commerical neighbourhood with a lot of changes to the lower Don River, restoring the old river path to Toronto Harbour.  It was a cold day but the Nikon F4 held up really well and JCH Streetpan 400 was the perfect choice of film for the grey skies. We didn't didn't really stray all that far from Cherry St., the windchill was as such, just burn the roll of film off and go get a coffee somewhere that had some shelter from the wind.  Camera: Nikon F4, Nikkor Lenses.  Film: Japan Camera Hunter Streetpan 400, D76 1+1.

Birthday Present: Nikon FE in the Beaches.

My annual Summer house and dog sitting duty also coincides with birthday season. This year I got a black Nikon FE to go along with the chrome one. Testing the camera out with Kodak Color Plus 200 yeilded nothing but one brilliant frame after another.  Shooting this Summer has been a challenge with one heat wave after another, during my stay in the Beaches, I ran with a pair of FE2's, I kept the 50mm lenses on most of the time because they would fog up from the humidity because it was that hot, as in 40+C or almost 100 F with the humidity factored in.  Note, the FE looks less beaten up in person. I cleaned the camera up when I got home.  Camera: Nikon FE, Nikkor Ai Micro 50 f3.5, Ais 50 f1.8 lens.  Film: Kodak Color Plus 200.
