I really have to take my Leica M4-2 on more adventures outside the city. The annual No Light Pollution photography retreat came up quick this year. with one major difference, I was starting in Toronto, not in Oakville and I didn't have to get quite so early this time around. We drove up to the Shortis/s/ Cafe in Beaverton for breakast before hitting Highway 35. Fall colours this year as bit of a bust, we were a few weeks early and honestly, it felt like late August. That said, not one drop of rain and we got lots of sun.  This year I packed my Lcica M4-2 and a couple of lenses for the drive up and back and a Nikon F100 for the hikes where more versitle lenses were required. I will say this again Kodak Pro Image 100 is a great film I love the results I got on the drive up.  I had to do very little work in Lightroom, pretty much just cropping pretty much.  To re-cap, Light Lens Labs lenses love colour film. and I have to shoot more with my M4-2 outside the city.  Camer...

 My family's roots trace to Brock Township in the north end of Durham Region ans I planned a solo day trip with the intention of visiting my cousins on the way back. Jo-Anne was up in North Bay visiting her parents, the weekend was mine.  Beaverton, the small town within Brock Township is at the north end of Durham Region on the shores of Lake Simcoe is both a summer destination being a gateway to cottage country and a winter destination for the ice fishing scene on the lake. Beaverton's downtown has a lot going on with full occupancy on the main street. The town movie theatre changed hands and building is being repainted, the portraits of the town fathers including my great uncle Masson are in storage somewhere. I wonder if my Aunt Mary- Elinor made an under the table payment to have them taken down, she never liked Great Uncle Masson's likeness in the portrait.  The real photogenic hotspot is the harbour on the Beaver River with the boathouses/cottages along the edges. ...

 Beaverton Ontario (not to be confused with The Beaverton satire site) is a small town within Brock Township on the eastern shores of Lake Simcoe roughly an hour and a bit's drive north of Toronto if you go all the way up the 404 to the end and taking some side roads. Beaverton is sort of cottage country, south of the Haliburtons, west of the Muskokas, it does not come to mind, but on the Beaver River there are boathouses that are also cottages.  Usually I roll through in the fall on the way up north to Dwight Ontario for my annual fall photography retreat, I did visit Summer 2019 with a family reunion with some cousins and my aunt. There's a family connection to the town, my great uncle Masson Smith was the town doctor in the first half of the 20th century and to make house calls to Thorah Island during the winter he put skis on the front tires of has car.
