Doomo Meter D on my Nikon S2.

Image
There have been an explosion of clip on light meters of late, (Cosina) Voigtlander had their VC meter which fits into just about any hot or cold shoe on SLRs and range finder cameras and medium format rigs. Fast forward to recent times, companies like Reveni Labs, Keks and others have come out with their idea for the clip on light meter. I owned an early Reveni Labs meter, while accurate, it really didn't gel with me, and has been sitting in a drawer ever since. I did a ton of reading and settled on the Doomo Meter D  and purchased it through Downtown Camera along with some ORWO NC400 colour film to try out, more on that when I get some time to shoot it.  The Doomo meter D is pretty simple, two dials, one with shutter speed, the other with the aperture and ISO, the read out is just like a the Voigtlander VC meter or a Nikon FM/FM2n With a - o + LED read out, which is easy peasy to read compared to LCD and OLED screens in challenging light conditions. Frugal Film Project September Edition, Off to Niagara on the Lake

Image
It was a great Labour Day long holiday weekend, my birthday continued on during the weekend. Jo-Anne and I went down to Niagara on the Lake for the day. Getting down was an adventure with all the traffic thank you to the one idiot who decided to drive 20 below the limit on the QEW in the middle lane. So much for getting up early.  Also, this will be the last month for this year's Nikkormat FTn, for a few reasons. One, the camera needs a CLA, I felt the shutter release catching on two occasions and resulted in two blank frames. Two, I'm moving in a few months and will have to move about 95% of my camera collection to my brother's place for a few months until I get through the year of chaos. The replacement camera will also be next year's camera as well and spoiler alert, it's a Nikkormat FT3, pretty much the same camera but with an Ai lens mount and is couple of years younger. It will be make its debut for the October installment, stay tuned.  Niagara On The Lake is...

Wandering Around Sherwood Park

Image
Sherwood Park is a pocket neighbourhood east of Yonge St., West of Mt. Pleasant, South of Alexander Muir Gardens and north of Erskine. Like of west of Yonge St., walk a few houses in, and it gets a lot quieter,  I was killing time until the cupcake store opened because a weekend with Jo-Anne involves cupcakes. It was good solo photo walk through one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city.  Camera: Nikkormat FTn, Nikkor HC 50 F2 lens.  Film: Kentmere 400, Ilfotec HC 1+31.
