Oakville On the Cusp of Summer

Image
Been ages since I shot with my Pentax Spotmatics, so I pulled out my Spotmatic II, loaded it up with some Fujifilm Pro 400 H in my fridge and shot around Oakville. I used Super Multi Coated Takumar 50 F1.4, 28 F3.5 and  the 50 F3.5 Macro lenses. For whatever reason I never bonded with my K mount Pentaxes,  doesn't mean I'm done with the brand. I love my Pentax M-42 screw mount system, granted both my SV's and Spotmatic F need servicing, and I couple of Spotmatic SP's along with the II and I'm not giving that up, hell no!.  I found the 400 H on the grainy side. but otherwise on point with the colour palette, it was freezer stored after all and worked great with Super Multi Coated Takumar glass.  Camera: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II, Super Multi Coated Takumar Lenses.  Film: Fuji Pro 400 H.

Midtown Toronto and a Big Shift

Image
I met up with my friend Jo-Anne a few weeks ago to wander around her neighbourhood in midtown Toronto, haven't photo walked around Yonge-Eglington, ever. So that had to change. Jo-Anne and I both shot with Pentax Spotmatic II's, it seamed like the right camera for this outing. What I didn't know this photowalk marked a big shift, but I'll get to that in a second.  We had the makings of a great photowalk because started on Yonge St. just north of Eglington and wandered up to the Alexander Miur Gardens and worked our way through the ravine trail network to Bayview and walked back to Broadway and over to Mt. Pleasant to have lunch at the Granite Brewpub (a fabulous spot for beer and food). It was at a point after lunch we went from friends to more than just friends. Jo-Anne and I have been friends for a couple of years now after being introduced via mutual friend on a photowalk back in I think 2018.  Yes there are going to be more photowalks north of Bloor St. and I have...

Elora April 2019, Part Two

Image
We did a great deep dive on the Classic Camera Revival with the Pentax Spotmatic, they lovely cameras to shoot with. With my day trip up to Elora I wanted some time with my Spotmatic II, it is one of those "just right" in my hands camera with amazing optics. I was blown away with what I got with Fomapan 100 processed in Rodinal 1+50 through Super Multi Coated Takumar lenses. While it was sunny in Oakville, it was a lot hazier to almost overcast up in Elora which was a bit of a disappointment, but it's April in Central Canada, what do you expect? What was a shame, the trails were iced up along with the stairs down into the Elora Gorge. Nope, I like my mobility, I'll be back in May or June. Camera: Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II, Super Multi Coated Takumar 50 f1.4 and 28 f3.5 lenses. Film: Fomapan 100, Rodinal 1+50
