The Nikkor N 28 F2 lens. and I Forgot to Post this

Image
I shot this set over a year after buying a Nikkor N 28 f2 lens. I already have the Nikkor H 28 F3.5 lens but had an opportunity to get this fast piece of glass for a decent price. I found that my copy of the 28 F3.5 lens has a tendancy to vignette a bit around the edges. That doesn't exist with the 28 F2 lens.  The big question of course is, should I get one? That depends if you have a lot of Pre Ai Nikon Fs, F2's and Nikkormats in your collection, if the answer is yes. I would roll up the nickels and dimes. Bonus points if you can find a factory Ai converted Nikkor N 28 F2 and you can use it all the way through up to the F4 but not the FA.  The other thing I forgot is I shot this on Ultrafine Extreme 400, everyone's favourite bargain basement film, pushed to 1600 really well but I hated it was a magent for water spots and space junk that you have to clone out like mad. Camera: Nikkormat FT2, Nikkor N 28 F2 lens.  Film: Ultrafine Extreme 400, HC110 B.  ...

Fuji Pro 400H, Gone You Say? Pity

Image
I was gifted two rolls of Fuji Pro 400 H this past Summer by my friend Ori Carmona, and I immediately put them into the fridge for the fall. Fuji continued its product line thinning out by discontinuing their only pro film stock in both 35mm and 120 this past year. At the same time the product manager at Kodak Alaris responsible for Portra saw their carefully planned production forecasts tossed out the window. Maybe it will come back, maybe not. Either way if you wanted to know why Portra 400 was thin on the ground for much of 2021, this is one of them.  From personal experience Pro 400 H isn't really a 400 ISO colour film, I figure its true speed is around 250 ISO and that's what I shot both rolls you see here. The end results required very little work in post other than cropping and dust removal. I do hope Fujifilm brings this film back, to my understanding it was an ingrediant or two that was too hard to source, again another reason why Kodak colour films were hard to find...

The Rare Sunny Day in the Holiday Season, Lets Shoot Some Kosmo Mono 100

Image
The Nikon F100 is a blast to shoot with, on a whim the week before Christmas I loaded up with a roll of Kosmo Mono 100 and wandered around Oakville to shoot. I set the canera to aperture priority and matrix metering and just went to town, metaphorically and literally. The 28-105 zoom lens is a sharp all arounder piece of glass and used this lens/camera combo on previous occasions but with colour film only.  I am slowly building out my autofocus Nikkor lens kit with an incoming 50 f1.4 AF-D lens arriving shortly, and I really want to get my sticky fingers on the 20-35 F2.8 and 80-200 F2.8 AF-D lenses. to round things out with the pro kit. The Prosumer lenses: the 28-105, 70-210 and 50 f1.8 lenses will be for the pair of F90X's. Gear acquisition syndrome never ends.  Camera: Nikon F100, Nikkor AF-D 28-105 F3.5-4.5 zoom lens.  Film: Kosmo Mono 100, D76 1+1.
