Classicpan 400, when mastered, is a brilliant film. I took the tip to rate the film half its advertised film speed, meaning I exposed as if the film as 200asa not 400. I processed in 1:50 Rodinal for 11 minutes and here is what I got. I love the end results from my Saturday afternoon in Kensington Market and Chinatown. I used my Pentax Spotmatic F kit to make these photos. I have found though my results in my Nikkormat with the same as above less than wonderful. I am going to eliminate what caused the less than wonderful performance, super sunny day and the deep yellow filter redundant with a super contrasty film? I will have to experiment to find out why.

Midnight Madness, a sidewalk sale on steroids. Oakville has been holding them for over 20 years I think, this year I finished off a roll of Kodak Tri-X in my Pentax Spotmatic F. I had to do some cropping because of some residue from the process. Not all of the silver was washed away. Perhaps its time to mix up some new stop formula. Midnight Madness is a mixed bag for me, it signals Summer is half over and its all downhill. It is also a bit hokey, I think the bar band the Kings will be singing Switch into Glide when I am 60. I am rambling and should shut up, enjoy the photos.

My Asahi Pentax model K is back from the shop and as good as new. Hard to believe the camera is 10 years older than I am. I used a 55 f1.8 auto takumar on all the shots shown with Agfa Silvertone 400 rated at 200, developed in Rodinal 1:50. Please do not try these shots yourself for safety reasons.

My last roll of Kodak Profoto 100, only available in some parts of the world but not here so its back to Fuji. I took this batch of photos in Oakville's West end and in Roncesvalles Village in Toronto. Two very different neighbourhoods. I used an Olympus OM-4 with a variety of Zuiko lenses and of course a polarising filter.

Back on Friday July 7, 2006 I got a chance to dcoument something special, a rare Toronto appearance of the Ladybird Side Show at the Now Lounge. This was a rare opportunty to photograph a quartet of very smart, talented, beautiful women at the top of their musical game. The folk harmonies alone still echo around my brain and I am a jazz/funk/soul/indie rock fan. I used my Nikon F2 on this assignment with a trio of lenses: The Nikkor 35 f2, 50 f1.4 and the 105 f2.5; the film was Ilford Delta 3200 and the developer was HC110 at a dilution A strength.

Nice shots of some street cars at the Greenwood yard. I used my OM-4 with Zuiko 28 f3.5 lens and polariser. The fim used was Fuji Superia 100.

More shots with classicpan 400. A little too contrasty but that is due to the deep yellow filter I had on the lens. I like the intensity myself.

Back to Kensington Market, in time for the world Cup Quarter Finals. People were huddled around TV's watching Brazil get their plane ticket home from the French. My team England got knocked out, pity but life goes on and new loyalties get created. I used Classicpan 400, one of the old school emulsions I have been talking about from JandC photo. I used my Nikon F2 with Nikkor 50 f1.4 with a deep yellow filter as gear and the developer is Rodinal at 1:50 for 14 minutes.
