NLP 2024 Part Four, into Limberlost Forest and Nature Preserve

Limberlost Forest is one of those Northern Muskoka treasures I hope doesn't get too discovered, I love hiking the trails and it's much quieter than Algonquin Park which is a about a half hour drive east. There are a variety of trails that vary in difficulty and length, Buck Lake lands around the middle.  If there's one bit of advice, choose your camera gear carefully, or, around KM 4, or 5, you're going to regret not getting into shape and building endurance beforehand. Something I'm doing for next year, that said, used the 180 F2.8 ED lens, wow, I can't say enough, amazing glass!   My F4 was perfect for this hike as it delivered consistantly perfect exposures frame after frame. I'll stand by it's Nikon's last manual focus pro body, when configured with a K or in my case a P screen.  Camera: Nikon F4, Nikkor AIS lenses.  Film: Eastman Kodak Vision 3 250D, ECN2 processed at Graination Lab.  ...

NLP 2025 Part Three

 We lingered a bit at the top of the Oxtongue River falls, I wnt to town with the water relections, then went back to Billie Bear where we're staying. This one of my my happy places, Billie Bear Resort has a lot of history beginning as a Fishing camp and lodge. Before it's current incarnation the previous owner had a small fleet of aircraft, a helicopter which was more a personal toy and float plane, my guess a few  De Haviland Beavers for flying guests to their remote fishing spots.  That all changed in the 1990s when Billie Bear got sold and went from fishing camp to cottage resort.  I love Billie Bear, it's not Deerhurst and not meant to be, it's real Muskoka, not show biz Muskoka and long may it remain as such.  Got a chance to try out the Nikkor AIS 180 F2.8 ED lens on two shots, this is a nice lens, but it's a heavy bit of glass.
