The March Toronto Film Shooters Photo Walk Part One

 The March photo walk had a decent turn out, the route is simple, we started at Graination Lab, made our way north along Spadina to Willocks. We then went east into the heart of University of Toronto St. George campus.  I chose the Leica R6 and ran with the three lens kit. The 90 F2.8 Elmarit lens didn't really get used, I ran with the 50 F2 Summicron and the 28 F2.8 Elmarit. I was also in a black and white mood and found Rollei RPX 400 perfect for the walk, it worked great from the Riverside to Corktown back to Riverside walk two weeks before.  With the R6 I mostly metered with their Full Field Integral Mode, sort of Leica's answer to Nikon Matrix Metering. I'm leveraging this on overcast days when the light is less contrasty. On sunny days, I prefer the spot metering for a more accurate reading.  Camera: Leica R6, Leica 3 50 F2 Summicron, 28 F2.8 Elmarit Lenses.  Film: Rollei RPX 400, Rollei Supergrain 1+15.  ...

Winter Stations in the Beaches 2026 Edition

 The Beaches Winter Stations Installation is an annual event where teams from different arcitecture schools and design firms design shelters around, or, near by lifeguard chairs at Woodbine Beach. I usually photograph them near the end of the month around March Break, this time around at the beginning of the month, usually mother nature and people aren't kind to the installations.  This is also another opportunity to shoot with the Leica R6, the first time around was Ilford HP5 400, and photographing the Beaches ice build up which is all gone by the end of February/early March. The first time around I used the spot metering feature, on this roll I used Large Field Averaging which was Leica's answer to I guess Matrix metering or perhaps closer to Minolta's CLC metering.  I also shot with Lomo Colour 400 C-41 a chance to push Large Field Averaging metering along with seeing how prime Leica R glass played with colour film.
