This is when an afternoon of shooting goes well. I used my Pentax S1a with the Super Takumar 50/1.4 and 35/3.5 lenses and I ran with Fuji Superia 100 asa colour. I was test driving a Pentax meter made for the Pre- Spotmatic SLRs and it rode on top of the prism, a rather elegant solution from its day. I am happy with the results here. I wish it were all like this, I am tossing out a roll today because, I rushed and found out it did not advance properly. My luck of the draw.

I took these shots with my Pentax S1a, the Toronto shots were taken before and after class. I had to clean up the "Table Top" building due to nighttime reflections, I can live with the results. The Oakville shots were taken after work one Saturday after a rough shift at the store. I found shooting pictures quite relaxing. The film used was asa 400 Fuji Superia Extra.

Well I should write some copy to go with the pictures. I was out testing my Asahi Pentax model K with Neopan 100 black and white film from Fuji mostly in Little Italy on College though the one with the umbrellas was taken in Kensington Market. Is there a favourite, well...I am a sucker for older Alfa Romeos and Vespa scooters (must be the inner mod), I took them both with a 28mm wide angle Takumar lens. The other favourites would be the Big Chill Ice Cream store which is closed for the winter. Pity I could use with a couple more warm sunny afternoons just to wander around before the big chill hits.

Just a short post here, The first two photos were taken at Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's you can figure out quickly Marcus is growing like a weed. The other photo is of Myna Wallin reading at her book launch a few weeks ago. All photos were taken with a Kiev III Ilford Hp5 400 film

Lots of photos on the last nice day. I took them with the Leica M3 and I tried out Kodak Tri-X 400 black and white, an oldie but a goodie film. Enjoy, I wandered around Kensington Market and Queen St. West.

This is another rare family shot, rarer still I am in the picture. My nephew is in my lap while I'm reading to him. Alex, Marcus' father and my brother took the shot with my Pentax Spotmatic SP 1000 with Agfa APX 400 film. I have found with Pentax screwmount SLR's from the spotmatics backwards, if its a really bright sunny day use 100 asa film. Most of my outdoor shots were ruined as the film was too fast and the camera shutter not fast enough, I should know this by now. Bill

Time for another upload of images, I used the Kiev III's mechanical cousin the Contax IIIa which was made by Zeiss Ikon in Stuttgart in the early 1950's with Agfa Apx 400 black and white film which I hope is still being made or a least large stocks remain. I had a scare with this camera recently when a got a roll back of colour film and it looked like half the film/neagtive was scraped, well this roll puts that fear to rest, I think it was the lab that goofed, thankfully. Most of the shots were taken near Ryerson around Yonge and Dundas Streets. The one shot I took of Dundas Westbound was from my classroom. The house photo is here in Oakville in the Historic district by the lake to add a contrast to the group. The Contax IIIa was THE Pro camera in the early 1950's before Leica released the M3 and later Nikon dropped the bomb that is the Nikon F that changed the pro camera market forever.
