The Pocket between Mt. Pleasant and Bayview
My chrome early 1970s Nikkormat FTn has been my go to camera this past winter, partly part of this year's Frugal Film Project but also, it's a solid no nonsense tank of a camera that works in less than wonderful weather. There's a nostalgia component, as my dad shot a lot with his Nikkormat FTn back in the 1970s.
I have a soft spot for this part of Toronto as it reminds me a lot of the neighourhood I grew up in Montreal in the 1970s called Montreal West. It was a small sliver of an independent municipality sandwiched between Cote St. Luc, Ville St. Pierre and NDG, and was the perfect 15 minute community where a 15 minute walk could take everywhere you needed to be. This part of midtown Toronto reminds me of that, especially both retail strips on Mt. Pleasant and Baview. This part of the world is on my shortlist on where I want to live in the long term.
Camera: Nikkormat FTn, Nikkor Pre Ai lenses.
