Impluse Purchase, My 2.8C Rolleiflex

I'm a member of the Toronto Camera Club, have been since June 2024 when I moved into Toronto, joining was a no brainer, I co-founded the Oakville Camera Club 20 years ago, and wanted to find my tribe in the city along with access to a darkroom. One committee that's part of the TCC is the Used Camera and Gear Sales, they take donations from both club members and the public, check all the equipment out, price accordingly and re-home with club members and the general public. Monies raised goes to club activities. 

Well.....during the club AGM the Used Camera and Gear Sales Committe had a table up front and to the side with some cameras for sale, including a Mamiya RB67 kit, the camera that caught my eye was a C Series Rolleiflex with the 80 F2.8 Schneider Xenotar lens. I think over the course of the AGM portion of the evening, I looked at the camera, gave it a good once over and offered to buy it. One E-Transfer to the club treasurer when I got home, the 2.8 Rollei was mine. All my Rolleiflexes come with 75mm lenses, so this fills a hole in the collection. I immediately ordered a third party Bay III lens hood, cap and the proper camera strap. 

I then chose a roll of Agfa Portrait 160, expired colour print film from 25 years ago that's been freezer stored ever since. I enjoy shooting with 120 format expired Agfa, I know once it's gone, it's gone. The colour palette is unique, not Kodak, or Fujifilm. I wanted to see if there were any issues with the camera. Safe to say the transport is healthy along with the taking lens. There will be a CLA in this 2.8C Rollei's future and a bright screen retrofit but for now, I'm just going to enjoy my camera.

Second Roll of Aerocolor IV (Flic Film Elektra 100)

 I bought a bunch of Flic Film Elektra 100 after shooting a roll of Santa Color 100 late last fall down in Niagara on the Lake  with my good Canon New F-1. I packed a two rolls gifting one roll to my brother Alex before heading south on vacation for a week. This time around my second adventure of Kodak Aero Color IV at a different time of the year.  Again, I shot at "box speed" at 100 ISO only this time through my Nikon F3/T. This time I loved the results even more, not just because it went through a different camera system. I think back late last November there was more infrared light in the spectrum due the time of year thus influencing the colour cast of the Aero Color 1V. Due to the polyester base Aero Color IV is easy to scan, you can almost colour correct during the scanning process, reducing your work flow a bit at the other end in Lightroom. The Canon EOS 1n, the Camera that Made Life Difficult for Nikon

I want to thank Ori Carmona, a friend and fellow Facebook Group adminstrator for Canon Film Photography for me to try out. So, my first serious camera was a Canon Rebel XS, your classic plastic fantastic from the late 1990s, once I went to manual focus, I never really used that camera again. Fast forward 20 years and with collection of camera gear from a variety of brands, I sort of saw myself as a Nikon fan boy with a soft spot for Canon FD mount gear and really loved shooting other brands like Minolta, Olympus and Pentax. I never shot with a pro grade Canon EOS mount camera, I do own a Nikon F4 which sadly has developed really bad LCD bleed on both displays so she's toast. Ori loaned me his camera to try out. The New Addition to the Fleet, the NIkon FM2T

 I didn't need a NIkon FM2T but I got one. I already have both a chrome and black Nikon FM2N bodies but being not only an analogue photographer I'm also a Nikon collector. Ok, the FM3a's are getting a little out of hand in the used market. As you have read over the past few months I've been on a gear acquisition tear this is more a prize. James over at Casual Photophile wrote a great pieec back in 2019 on the camera , and pretty much shares what I think, yeah, you don't really need this camera but if you're a Nikon collector you want one. The FM2T was only made from 1993 to 1997 and is a rare beast in the grand scheme of things compared to the FM2n which was made from 1989 to 2001. What the FM2T is a lighter and tougher version of the FM2N. with a titanium outer housing, like a regular FM2n it feels great in my hand.
