High Park and Testing out Some Nikon Gear (F2 Photomic and a new Lens).

I had this spare black Nikon F2 body sitting around and not doing much in the cabinet of broken dreams (parts cameras), my first thought was to secure a matching DE-1 eye level prism and put this camera back into service. The body was fine, but seeing what black DE-1 prisms are going for these days, that thought quicekly became a NOPE! Plan be, lets look for a working DP-1 meter head and I'll have a black F2 Photomic back in the collection, and I found a decent example on the US Camera Ebay Store and placed my order. The meter head works great and it went on a recent Toronto Film Shooters photowalk to High Park.

There were zero issues with the DP-1 prism head, the meter was spot on. I can't recommend F2's regardless of the version for a Nikon shooter, they are largely attainable and very robust and you have  large community to fall back on who get it.

The other bit of equipment I was testing out was the Nikkor H.C 85 F1.8 short telephoto lens, it had been factory converrted to Ai so I can use it across my system. This lens rocks. I love it stopped down for landcape work or opened up for portraiture. The lens coupled with a fast 35 gives you a very good travel and photo journalism kit for urban environments.

Both the F2 and 85 F1.8 performed flawlessly.

Camera: Nikon F2 Photomic, Nikkor O 35 F2 lens, Nikkor HC 85 F1.8 lens.

Film: Eastman Double X. D76 1+1.
