Leica R6, Another Grail Camera Addition, and Photographing the Ice in the Beaches.

 Oh boy, I did thing, apparently three Leicaflexes weren't enough, I went out and bought a Leica R6 and over a month later an R5 (stay tuned) and beefed up my three cam Leica R lens collection. Always wanted one of these cameras but the cost of Leica R glass kept me back, but that was then. 

The R6 was Leica's all mechanical camera based on the Leica R4 which in turn was based off the Minolta XD chassis and some interior bits. Mind you the R6 was entirely Leica's design, the only thing shared with Minolta is the exterior dimensions and that reassuring soft thunk with the mirror slap. 

I tried the camera out while on photo walk in the Beaches Neighbourhood back in early February after a snow storm and deep freeze to document the ice build up along the lake. The lenses used included the 3 Cam 80-200 F4 Vario Elmar, 28 F2.8 Elmarit and the Midland On made 50 F2 Summicron. I have a soft spot for made in Midland lenses. The Vario Elmar 80-200 came from Minolta, nothing wrong with that, they also shared the 24 F2.8 was a shared optical formula between the MD Rokkor and 3 cam Elmarit.  The 24 F2.8 Elmarit is on my acquisition list.
