KC and the Moonshine Band played the Cadillac Lounge, I loved shooting this venue, I relied more on my 35mm wide angle Jupiter12 and 50 f2 Jupiter 8 lenses. Of course I was using my Kiev III with Ilford Delta 3200 film. Down the street at the Gladstone was a Toronto Photoblogger event and Michael Sixeirio thought I was hard core for using an FSU Rangefinder camera. He was right, the viewfinder in the dark was a bit of a challenge. Next club event I am going to try my Nikon F2 with a 50 f1.4 and 35 f2 lenses.

Bill Smith and Kieley Hickey founded the Oakville Camera club in May 2006 with a focus on the educational and the social. Part two of the Canonet QL17 GIII adventure. Again taken with Ilford Delta 400.

I took this little montage of photos on a trip into the city for an information interview with a PR agency and lunch time seminar with the Toronto branch of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). I used my Canon Canonet QL17 GIII and some Ilford Delta 400. This is part one as I took some photos on this roll that would not fit the mood and will be posted later.

All Photos were taken on the final day of the APUG Conference, while I was taking Travis Nunn of Richmond Virgina to the airport. I used my Olympus OM-1 and HP5 Ilford film. There were more Kensington Market shots but one that I would term, local colour ( wannabe punk with the world's worst mohawk) thought he was part of a shot and voiced his displeasure at having his photo taken. I deduced he was performing for his peers, I denied him his wish for confrontation and gave up a roll of film in the camera. I was in no mood to get in a brawl with someone who might have friends close by.

Here is a taste of some of my experiment in colour slide photography. I have to note that my scanner was not designed to scan slides so what you see is a compromise. I love how nice Fuji Velvia captures rich colours that c-41 film does not. I used my Olympus OM-1 with this pair with a polarising filter on the lens which amplifies colour. I am only going to use slide film in my SLR's as they have on board meters. I shot a roll with my Leica M3 and I did not take into account the 2 stop adjustment for the filter. These two are on the short list for enlargement. Bill

The APUG conference is over, and by all accounts it was a really good time by all who attended and volunteered. I really enjoyed myself showing my part of the world to fellow photographers from other parts of Canada and the US. I hope it happens again soon. I discovered a new black and white emulsion from Classicfilm by way of JanC Photo. Classicpan 400 is a nice old school black and white film from the 1970's made somewhere in deepest,darkest Central Europe. Its dirt cheap at $1.99US a roll, how can you go wrong. Here are some shots I took in the Beach last Friday on a street shooting tour. I used my Olypus OM-1 with a variety of focal lengthes and an Orange Filter.

Wow the APUG Conference is this week, time flies. If you are a fan of film photography, worth the trip to Leaside even for the one day sale on Saturday. This little showing of photos was taken with my Olympus OM-1 with Fuji Acros Neopan 100, what a great combination. The Shot of the old Laker freighter was taken at the mouth of the Credit River with a Zuiko 135 Telephoto, everything else was with a 50 or a 28f3.5 Zuiko lenses. I am packing the OM-1 as my camera of choice because it has a killer set of Zuiko lenses to go with it and its light. Lugging around my old Nikons, though I love the cameras is not fun after the second day. I am also packing a monopod in the car for landscapes. See you at the Conference! Bill

The top photo, though not excellent is of a building that will later this year will disappear. Crangles Collision has that streamline post art deco pre modernist feel to it and has been on Bathurst St south of King for decades. Another condo development will appear in 3 years, hopefully something unique on a design level. The other shot is the Humber Pedestrian Bridge, both photos were taken with a Nikon F with Nikkor 35 F2 and Tri-x.

Part two of my afternoon vacation in Kensington Market, technical details are in the previous posting. My personal favourites are the Synagogue, which is a reminder that the Market has seen waves of immigration over the decades. I love the building for its traditional understated architecture. The second photo is the one at Agusta and Baldwin with the couple in front of my favourite coffee shop having a tender moment, I love this shot.

This is Part one of a Sunday afternoon Photo Shoot in the Kensington Market neighbourhood of Toronto. All photos were taken with a Nikon F2 with one of my favourite Nikkor lenses the "O" 35 f2.0. I used Ilford Delta 100 film which I think I prefer over FP4 and a deep yellow filter from Tiffin. There is more to come....

A quick and dirty experiment with a Pentax SV, a 28 f3.5 wideangle, and a 105 f2.8 telephoto lens taken at the foot of Polson Street and Ashbridges Bay Park. I used Fuji Superia 100 colour film. These two photos are the mind blowers of the set.

This is my second to last roll of Kodak profoto 100 color film, I gave one to my brother for a yellow filter for my 50f2 Summicron lens. He commented that it was super saturated almost like slide film. I used Pentax SV with a Super Takumar 24mm wideangle lens with a polariser filter, the Skies are not that blue. I like this set because I got a chance to see how I can push the bounderies of this film. I am now going to have to find a film that behaves a lot like this. The last roll of ProFoto is for my Leica. I took these photos a week ago on Victoria St., Kensington Market, and Bloor West Village which is an under documented part of world for me, you will be seeing more from there in the near future.
