Adventures with Koji 125T
More and more in the know film shooters are messing around motion picture stock for their colour film fix after continual price rises from Kodak Alaris (now up for sale) and Fujifilm (are they still making their own or using Eastman-Kodak for contract film production, who knows?) and Atlanta Film Company is filling that void with spooled up Eastman Vision Daylight ECN-2 and Ektachrome 100 motion picture slide film.
Bill Manning the benevolent leader of Atlanta Film Company gifted me a roll of Koji 125T which is freezer stored Fujifilm Reala Super F 125 ISO Tungstan rated motion picture stock. Yes Fujifilm even made motion picture stock. This is my first rodeo working with ECN-2 processed film but not my first time shooting with Tungstan rated film, only this time out in the bright sunshine. The camera of choice for this adventure is one of my Nikon F2AS bodies with a Nikkor AIS 50 F1.4 lens.
As per Atlanta Film Company website, I rated the film for 100 ISO and walked down Yonge St. between Lawrence Station and Yonge-Eglington. The film was of course processed in ECN-2 chemistry, had to wait two weeks. Post processing workflow is as follows. scan into TIFF files into Light Room via an Epson V600 with Vuuscan scanning interface software. My settings are for generic colour negative film (avoid the brand settings, things get weird). Once in Lightroom you do the usual crop, get rid of dust (space junk as I call it) and colour correct a wee bit. This is a Tungstan balanced film it will look cross processed, just roll with it.
Koji 125T is around for a good time, not a long time once the stocks of Fuji Reala Super F are gone, so will Koji and I highly recommend grabbing a couple of rolls on your Atlanta Film Company order to play with
